Ruben Sanchez's Photo Seminar - Friday, May 7, 2010 @ 10:30 am
Learn how to take better photographs of the tattoos that you work so hard to do.
The Photographer
My name is Ruben Sanchez. I have an A.S. degree in professional photography and I have worked in the field of commercial photography for four years. More recently, I have been photographing tattoo conventions for Tattoo Magazine for the past 4 years. I have a true passion for photography and I feel that I can convey what seems difficult to understand, in relatively simple terms. You can see some of my work at: www.myspace.com/Rubenchelle
Why should you take this seminar?
I guess the better question would be, “Why should I use this tattoo artist when I can’t see his/her work in this photograph?” I have heard many artists tell their potential customers, “The photograph doesn’t do the tattoo justice.” In the end, the customer is left with the same confusing dilemma of whether to use this artist or not. Now you have the opportunity to do something about it. By learning how to photograph better, you can increase your sales by instilling confidence to your customers. They will be able to see and appreciate your fine work. This is a small investment for something that will last you a lifetime.
What is covered in the seminar?
In this seminar you will gain a better understanding of the fundamentals of photography. You will finally understand how shutter speed, aperture and “film” speed work together. We will learn how to use that information to your advantage. We will also discuss how to light your subject so as to greatly reduce or eliminate “hot spots” or glare.
Bring photographs that show the issues you are having. You need to bring your digital camera along with your owner’s manual. Cell phones are not considered cameras! I don’t answer my camera during a photo shoot! You shouldn’t take pictures with your cell phone!
Course Length: 2 hours
Cost: $100.00 per person if you pre-register with me by Friday, April 30th. You can use PayPal for pre-registration. It will be $125.00 (cash only) if you register at the show.
For registration please contact Ruben Sanchez at Rubenchelle@yahoo.com

Mark Longnecker's "Background Formulas" Seminar - Sunday, May 9, 2010 @ 12:00 pm
Many tattoo artists seem to plateau after they learn how to do a good, clean tattoo. Learning background techniques can help an artist take their tattooing to the next level. Once you master backgrounds you can get your appointment book full of sleeves, backpieces and large panel tattoos. In Mark Longenecker's Background Formulas Seminar he will teach you all the basic background formulas for waves and water, smoke, wind swirls, isobars, flames, outer space, tribal, flowers, plants and foliage. These formulas will help you tie tattoos together and understand how to go around all the body parts. The formulas will also show artists how to leave tattoos ready to add to, such as turning a half sleeve into a full sleeve, or continuing a chest plate into a rib panel.
Course Length: 2 hours
Cost: $100 (includes a book that Mark has written explaining all the formulas he has learned in his 16 years of tattooing)
For registration please contact Mark Longnecker at Goodmarky@aol.com
